{"id":10400,"date":"2023-02-25T02:01:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-25T02:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=10400"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:12","slug":"laughing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=10400","title":{"rendered":"LAUGHING"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am increasingly fascinated by the way the human brain works.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I sent that photo of me on the ground (see yesterday&#8217;s post), I laughed at my daughter&#8217;s response because<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1) It&#8217;s super sweet that she was immediately concerned for my well being and &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2) It didn&#8217;t even cross her mind to question how I got a photo of myself falling from the roof.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I assure you, I am not laughing <i><b>at her<\/b><\/i>. She&#8217;s a bright girl. It&#8217;s not a question of intelligence at all.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What amuses me about the incident is that I see it as a reflection of human nature in general. I see myself in her response: My own gullibility and the way my emotions so easily trump my critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But these things are universal. We are all gullible. We all allow emotions to cancel critical thinking.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And THAT is what makes me laugh.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am increasingly fascinated by the way the human brain works.
