{"id":10429,"date":"2023-08-09T03:40:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T03:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=10429"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:32:47","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:32:47","slug":"3-original-sin-proof-texts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=10429","title":{"rendered":"3 ORIGINAL SIN PROOF-TEXTS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I know Wikipedia is not a trustworthy source, but it&#8217;s late and I am just starting to investigate Original Sin, so it works for a starting place.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Wikipedia:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>&#8220;The biblical bases for original sin are generally found in the following passages, the first and last of which explain why the sin is described as &#8220;original&#8221;:<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Genesis 3, the story of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden;<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Psalm 51:5, &#8220;I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me&#8221;;<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Paul&#8217;s Epistle to the Romans, 5:12-21, &#8220;Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned&#8230;&#8221;&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s what I suspected!<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is this another theological doctrine constructed on a flimsy proof-text foundation?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice how unclear both Psalm 51:5 and the Romans 5 verse are.
