{"id":2883,"date":"2023-05-24T02:57:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T02:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=2883"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:10","slug":"recurring-dream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=2883","title":{"rendered":"RECURRING DREAM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don&#8217;t have a word for &#8220;the opposite of a <i>nightmare<\/i>&#8221; but I have a recurring dream that is just that.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am outdoors running down a grassy path among some trees. Sometimes there are other people at a distance, but often I am alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I am running, I start taking longer and longer strides until I realize that I am actually floating briefly between footfalls.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stretches grow longer until I am convinced that I can actually fly &#8211; or at least hover above the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I take one more big bound to test the theory &#8230; and that&#8217;s when I wake up.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t know what it means for sure, but it feels like a metaphor for the way faith has functioned in my life.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From an early age I have known that there should be a supernatural element to the Christian life.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Little by little, I have seen it sort of creep into my life.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe I will still live long enough to see even greater strides.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And someday I will fly.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We don&#8217;t have a word for &#8220;the opposite of a nightmare&#8221; but I have a recurring dream that is just that.\u00a0\u00a0 I am outdoors running down a grassy path among some trees.
