{"id":3116,"date":"2022-11-05T04:54:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T04:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=3116"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:48","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:48","slug":"its-not-just-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=3116","title":{"rendered":"IT&#8217;S NOT JUST FAITH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A local church has a sign out front which proudly states, &#8220;Faith is believing without proof&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few years ago, I would have responded by whipping out some Josh McDowell apologetics and declaring, &#8220;But there IS good evidence for the existence of God!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, yes, apologetics remain useful and there is still a place for a book like <i>Evidence that Demands a Verdict<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, at this point in my life, upon seeing this church&#8217;s proclamation, I only think, &#8220;When it comes down to it, what <b><i>proof <\/i><\/b>do I have for <b><i>anything <\/i><\/b>I believe about life?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are all supposed to reject everything outside of SCIENCE these days, but from day to day we believe all sorts of things without scientific proof.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, all our most firmly held beliefs are based on feelings, stories, and experiences &#8211; far outside of empirical data of any sort.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take love for example.
