{"id":3706,"date":"2021-08-17T01:01:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-17T01:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=3706"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:34:39","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:34:39","slug":"13-short-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=3706","title":{"rendered":"13 SHORT YEARS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I cannot wrap my head around some aspects of the modern junior high experience, making it difficult for me to reach and teach some students.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How can a person be just 13 years old and yet be<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>oozing negativity and hatred?<\/li>\n\n\n<li>completely cynical about school?<\/li>\n\n\n<li>ever ready to confront authority figures with absolute disdain?<\/li>\n\n\n<li>stressed to the point of eminent mental breakdown?<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thirteen short years on this planet and this is where they find themselves?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can&#8217;t help but wonder what forces of evil lie hidden in the background.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be clear, this is a small percentage of the student body. But it doesn&#8217;t take too many kids in this state to completely alter the atmosphere of any classroom &#8211; or the school as a whole &#8211; for the worse.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As much as I wish it wasn&#8217;t so, I know there are no quick and easy short-term fixes.
