{"id":4853,"date":"2021-04-21T03:27:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T03:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=4853"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:35:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:35:02","slug":"a-progression","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=4853","title":{"rendered":"A PROGRESSION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I was young, I trusted the news media to tell me the truth about current events.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I learned about bias and how it can twist the truth by selection of what to report and what to leave out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I began to recognize just how much of the news media &#8220;on the other side&#8221; was influenced by their bias.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then I began to recognize just how much of the news media &#8220;<i>on my own side<\/i>&#8221; was influenced by their bias.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now I don&#8217;t know who to trust on any current event. Real journalism seems pretty scarce these days.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This leaves me 100% certain of only one thing: whatever the story is, I do not know the full story.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Whether we are talking national news or the everyday drama with people in our personal lives, literally, only God knows the full story.)<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And, painfully aware of my own vast ignorance on all the pertinent details of any particular news story, I am now very hesitant to express firm judgments about current events, especially on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are welcome. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I was young, I trusted the news media to tell me the truth about current events.
