{"id":4895,"date":"2023-07-14T02:48:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T02:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=4895"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:09","slug":"a-24-7-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=4895","title":{"rendered":"A 24\/7 WILL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I used to have a narrow understanding of God&#8217;s will.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was only at major forks in the road where I would &#8220;seek God&#8217;s will&#8221;:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Which college should I attend?<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Is this girl &#8220;the one&#8221;?<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Should I take this job or that other one?<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But at the right time &#8211; which happened to be on a plane leaving Haiti after my first visit in 2010 &#8211; the Lord revealed that the phrase &#8220;God&#8217;s will&#8221; means so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was reading the Bible and came across a passage that triggered an insight &#8211; I don&#8217;t remember which verse it was exactly, but something\u00a0like one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 John 2:17\u00a0 <i>The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does <b>the will of God<\/b> remains forever.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ephesians 5:15-17 <i>Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what <b>the Lord\u2019s will<\/b> is.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 Thessalonians 4:3 <i>For it is <b>God\u2019s will<\/b> that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 Thessalonians 5:16-18\u00a0 <i>Rejoice at all times. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is <b>God\u2019s will<\/b> for you in Christ Jesus.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it wasn&#8217;t just the passages that spoke directly about &#8220;God&#8217;s will&#8221; &#8211; I suddenly understood that the point of the whole Bible was to reveal &#8220;God&#8217;s will&#8221; for His creation.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And what &#8220;God&#8217;s will&#8221; boiled down to was the rescue of humanity from the darkness of sin and brokenness.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And\u00a0to join in THAT work\u00a0was God&#8217;s will for me, no matter where I went to college, no matter whom I married, and no matter where I worked.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God has a will that involves me 24\/7, not just occasionally at the forks in life&#8217;s road.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to have a narrow understanding of God&#8217;s will.
