{"id":5780,"date":"2022-07-27T03:10:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T03:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=5780"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:49","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:49","slug":"sarcasm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=5780","title":{"rendered":"SARCASM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent months, I have been told by both my children and my wife that I can be rather sarcastic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first, I brushed it off: &#8220;Everyone is sarcastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I was told that I, in fact, have a special talent for sarcasm.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took a few repetitions for this to sink it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My family isn&#8217;t being critical, necessarily. They are just pointing out a fact.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But now I catch myself saying sarcastic things and I am slowly coming to realize that my family is right.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I don&#8217;t like it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I have gotten older, the following thought pops into my mind now and then: &#8220;How do I want to be remembered?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And I really don&#8217;t want people standing around my casket saying, &#8220;He sure was a sarcastic sonofagun, wasn&#8217;t he?&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, mocking others with sarcasm isn&#8217;t <b style=\"font-style: italic\">loving.<\/b>\u00a0Not at all.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if I want to remembered primarily as being a &#8220;loving&#8221; human being, the sarcasm has to go.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*******<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(I can&#8217;t post these thoughts without the following note to wife and children: the sarcasm won&#8217;t disappear over night.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent months, I have been told by both my children and my wife that I can be rather sarcastic.\u00a0 At first, I brushed it off: &#8220;Everyone is sarcastic.&#8221; But I was told that I, in fact, have a special talent for sarcasm.
