{"id":5982,"date":"2026-03-17T17:02:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T17:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=5982"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:31:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:31:16","slug":"nobody-asked-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=5982","title":{"rendered":"NOBODY ASKED ME"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pastor friend and I are engaged in a texting discussion over the nature of salvation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our last exchange he asked:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b><i>If someone came to you and asked, &#8220;What must I do to be saved from hell, receive eternal life, and be declared righteous before God?&#8221; what would you tell them?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have tried to give this some serious consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the more I thought about it, the more ridiculous the entire premise became.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have never been asked this question in the past four decades in which I have taken my faith seriously, and I doubt I will ever hear it the rest of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, I doubt this question has EVER been legitimately asked &#8211;\u00a0<b><i>unprompted\u00a0<\/i><\/b>&#8211; in the past 2,000 years.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just look at it:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b><i>&#8220;What must I do to be saved from hell, receive eternal life, and be declared righteous before God?&#8221;<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only people who are ALREADY Christians talk this way.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No unbeliever asks this question.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which prompts a question from me &#8211; and surely, I am not the first to ask it:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why are we promoting a gospel that answers a question nobody is asking?\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A pastor friend and I are engaged in a texting discussion over the nature of salvation.\u00a0 In our last exchange he asked: If someone came to you and asked, &#8220;What must I do to be saved from hell, receive eternal life, and be declared righteous before God?&#8221; what would you tell them?
