{"id":6383,"date":"2024-07-08T02:59:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-08T02:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=6383"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:32:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:32:23","slug":"it-takes-time-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=6383","title":{"rendered":"IT TAKES TIME"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t know that I have ever stepped back from the gospel stories so as to consider that those first disciples attached themselves to Jesus assuming that he was potentially a great rabbi, but not really suspecting He was anything more than that.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They certainly didn&#8217;t assume they were walking alongside the Son of God.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not at first.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They likely were thinking no more than &#8220;Here is a man who can teach me about God.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was only over time that the thought started to dawn on them, very slowly, &#8220;Wait a minute &#8211; This IS God!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think pastors need to be OK with folks in their congregations who take their time in deciding that Jesus is more than a good teacher of morality.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After all, the disciples were physically with Jesus 24\/7 for 3 years and still struggled to grasp exactly who He was.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hopefully the light bulb comes on eventually.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t know that I have ever stepped back from the gospel stories so as to consider that those first disciples attached themselves to Jesus assuming that he was potentially a great rabbi, but not really suspecting He was anything more than that.\u00a0 They certainly didn&#8217;t assume they were walking alongside the Son of God.
