Why am I surprised when *I* sin?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"background-color: white;color: #333333\">Malcolm Muggeridge once observed,\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: white;color: #181818\">\u201cThe depravity of man is at once the most empirically verifiable reality but at the same time the most intellectually resisted fact.\u201d<\/span><br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"background-color: white;color: #181818\">Human beings ARE depraved and our hearts ARE bent towards sin. So why are we constantly shocked and offended by bad behavior or hurtful words?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"background-color: white;color: #181818\">Over the last few years I think I have made progress in reversing my intellectual resistance to the fact of depravity. And although it may seem counterintuitive, I have found that this acceptance of the fact of depravity &#8211; in myself and every single person I know &#8211; has made it easier to offer grace and forgiveness to others.\u00a0 And furthermore, to admit my own need for grace and forgiveness.\u00a0<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"background-color: white;color: #181818\">&#8220;The heart is deceitful above all things,<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #181818\"><span style=\"background-color: white\">And desperately sick;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #181818\"><span style=\"background-color: white\">Who can understand it?&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0&#8211; Jeremiah 17:9<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Why are we constantly surprised when people sin?
