When progressive Christians say &#8220;God loves you&#8221;, does it not seem to carry the implication the Lord makes no demands of human beings?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All love. No expectations or requirements.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when they say &#8220;God loves you&#8221;, is it not assumed the words &#8220;just the way you are&#8221; can and should be tacked on the end?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I sense a similar vibe when progressives claim &#8220;We are all God&#8217;s children&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are we children in a household characterized by a generous allowance and lots of hugs and the complete absence of chores and responsibilities?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How can such a household function?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a human father doesn&#8217;t lay down the law for his children, then &#8220;everyone does what is right in his own eyes&#8221;. And the result is chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People end up hurt. And lost.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Relationships get broken.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a truly loving Parent, there is no contradiction whatsoever between &#8220;I love you as you are&#8221; and &#8220;Here are the expectations on you as a member of this family&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being a part of a family necessarily brings obligations.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is it just me?
