{"id":7677,"date":"2022-09-11T02:29:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-11T02:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=7677"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:49","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:49","slug":"final-request","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=7677","title":{"rendered":"FINAL REQUEST"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have you ever reflected on this incredible moment at the foot of the cross:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, &#8220;Dear woman, here is your son,&#8221; and to the disciple, &#8220;Here is your mother.&#8221; <\/i>(John 19:26-27a)<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can you imagine what John must have felt, being entrusted with such a duty at such a critical hour?<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(It seems safe to assume the Biblical scholars are correct in understanding &#8220;the disciple whom Jesus loved&#8221; as John&#8217;s way of referring to himself.)<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was no hesitation in John&#8217;s heart or mind; you don&#8217;t disregard a dying friend&#8217;s wish.\u00a0<i>From that day on, this disciple took her into his home. <\/i>(19:27b)<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you or I had been in John&#8217;s shoes, would we have made ourselves as available to such a big final request from Jesus as John did? I mean, it was a long term, daily commitment John was agreeing to.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I would like to think so.
