{"id":8371,"date":"2022-09-18T23:21:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-18T23:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8371"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:33:48","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:33:48","slug":"peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8371","title":{"rendered":"PEACE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Chapter 20, John&#8217;s Gospel records several interactions of Jesus with His disciples just after the resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But John doesn&#8217;t tell us a whole lot of what Jesus said to His disciples &#8211; the dialogue is sparse.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even so, John notes a phrase that Jesus repeats 3 times to his disciples:<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Peace be with you!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus doesn&#8217;t give the disciples a long explanation of why they should be full of peace, and he doesn&#8217;t reprimand them for being fearful.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He just says, &#8220;Peace be with you.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have found myself battling anxious thoughts more often these past few years. (How about you?) I suppose some of that anxiety is due to Covid, some to stage of life, and some to social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(I should probably stop reading Twitter.)<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I paused today to meditate on Jesus&#8217; phrase, &#8220;Peace be with you&#8221;, I realized that one of the greatest things I gain from reading Scripture on a regular basis is a sense of sanity.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is great peace in reading &#8211; and believing &#8211; the Bible.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Chapter 20, John&#8217;s Gospel records several interactions of Jesus with His disciples just after the resurrection.
