{"id":8633,"date":"2013-09-02T09:50:00","date_gmt":"2013-09-02T09:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8633"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:35:31","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:35:31","slug":"classrooms-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8633","title":{"rendered":"Classrooms Ready"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After worship this morning we spent most of the afternoon today at Cowman, making final adjustments to the rooms and prepping for the arrival of students for the first day of school tomorrow.\u00a0 I still need to do some planning for tomorrow, so I will make this post mostly pictures and a bit of commentary, so I can finish my work.\u00a0 And if you&#8217;re the type to fuss at us about not taking a Sabbath (and you should be!), we would\u00a0simply point\u00a0out that we took our Sabbath a day early.\u00a0 Yesterday was a wonderfully refreshing day at the pool of Villa Cana, a Catholic retreat center just around the corner from our mission.\u00a0 The grounds are gorgeous and the pool was perfect &#8211; especially after spending the last two weeks sweating 24 hours a day.Here&#8217;s the pool:<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130831_110553-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a perfect world, this is what people would envision when they hear the word &#8220;Haiti&#8221;!A number of missionary families gathered at the pool &#8211; the Bundys, the Heckmans, the Ayars and the Aberles.\u00a0 Lots of kids, lots of sun, and lots of cool, clear water.We swam, ate lunch poolside, then swam some more.\u00a0 It was close to 5 hours total.\u00a0 Then we tagged along with some of the other missionaries to a birthday for a three year old (whose grandmother teaches French and Spanish at Cowman). It was airplane-themed and Aidan&#8217;s mom went ALL OUT.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130831_165925-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Caleb playing &quot;pin the prop on the plane&quot;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130831_174930-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A pool AND ice cream on the same day.\u00a0 We were in heaven.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So today our Sabbath was over and it was time to put the finishing touches on the classrooms.\u00a0 Can you believe that Melissa&#8217;s kindergarten room\u00a0looked like this&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130901_132353-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">&#8230; When we arrived today?\u00a0 And like this&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130901_174042-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">When we left?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130901_174048-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">And this?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/20130901_174123-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">And this?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All ready for a gaggle of Kindergartners and First Graders!
