{"id":8814,"date":"2021-12-21T03:56:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T03:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8814"},"modified":"2026-10-02T01:34:37","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T01:34:37","slug":"countdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stevegrossblog.com\/?p=8814","title":{"rendered":"COUNTDOWN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow I give three final exams, each lasting one hour and 40 minutes, and then I am pretty much done with my junior high teaching career forever.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Except for a bunch of grading.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With any luck, though, when I walk out of the school on Wednesday afternoon, I will be completely finished with my work, moved out of my classroom, and ready to turn in my key.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have to admit that there is not much that I will miss in the least. And that makes me a bit sad &#8230; and nervous &#8230; about the future of education and our country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While I have been working within a public school, I haven&#8217;t written much here about how broken our education system is, but I have much to reflect on.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are no easy answers, and I am relieved to step away from the frontlines soon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two more days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tomorrow I give three final exams, each lasting one hour and 40 minutes, and then I am pretty much done with my junior high teaching career forever.
