This morning I started to rectify my prayer problem.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
Here’s where I started:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
With another look at Luke 11:1 where\u00a0the disciples walked right up to Jesus and said, “Teach us to pray”.<\/p>\n\n\n
Just that way – as a demand, not a request.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
It wasn’t “Would you teach us?” or “Please teach us”.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
Instead, it was a flat out, unapologetic imperative: “Teach us”.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
And then the crazy thing is that Jesus turned around and modeled and encouraged similar imperatives in their prayers to their heavenly Father:<\/p>\n\n\n
“GIVE US this day our daily bread.”<\/p>\n\n\n
“FORGIVE US our sins.”<\/p>\n\n\n
“LEAD US not into temptations.”<\/p>\n\n\n
It’s a bold approach, but it’s also the way you talk to a real person.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
At least to a person above you whom you acknowledge as the only one who can give you what you need.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
So this morning I said, “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – teach me to pray.”\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
